She had so many people come to give her their blessings! I think that we ended up with over 40 friends, family members and children! Our little house was packed for the Lady of the Day! Mom, Nanny,Jamey and I were so busy making all of the "Thank You" cookie pops the day before and they just turned out perfect! Thanks to Kasey for her awesome recipe!!!! We had a birthday cake made for Ellie in the shape of a Pink and Green Lady Bug and come to find out the same lady who made this cake for Ellie also made Jamey's first birthday cake as well. The bakery is called Lindy's in Old Town Spring. WOW was it awesome! It was a 2 layer white cake with half cream cheese filling and half strawberry filling! To Die For!! My good friend and business partner Sally decorated 14 little mini cakes in the shape of different bugs for all of the kids to have their own personal sized cakes and what an awesome decorator she is!!! They turned out so very cute and added so much to the cake table! We had a birthday plate for all who came to the momentous occasion to sign, bubbles for the kids and plenty of fellowship to last all day long! Our good friend Carlos made her a birthday banner that we hung over the front door to let everyone in the neighborhood know that it was her special day. Thanks Uncle Los! We dressed our little luv bug in an unforgettable 1st birthday outfit, a cute white shirt that had a single cupcake with pink organza icing and a big frilly pink can-can with a pink polka dot satin drawstring ribbon, there was no denying who the bday girl was! Mommy splurged on that one!!!! The day was perfect and when it came time to sing her happy birthday she sat in her high chair with everyone gathered around and started to wave her hands like a music director and then started to move both of her hands in her "reverse bye-bye" like you would do if you said "come here" as if to say LOUDER! Then it came down to the big moment when she ate her first cake!!! She ate the whole thing and wanted to eat the plate!! Can you say sugar rush??? Her name ever since then has been "Miss Piggy". We are going to be faced with lots of bitter sweet holidays up ahead. On one hand we have the best gift that God could have given us and we had a more meaningful Thanksgiving Day because of the gift of our baby girl. She had so much fun with all of the family. Ellie even got a taste of all of the Thanksgiving Day <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">traditional</span> foods. She was just as stuffed as we all were! On the other hand this was our first Thanksgiving without Papa, Jamey's dad. Edward loved Thanksgiving Day because he was able to start preparing all of the food a week ahead of time. He loved going to pick out the most perfect turkey, all of the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">grocery</span> store shopping, and playing a game with how much he could save with <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">coupons</span>! He would get such a kick out of saving a few dollars even if it meant going all over town from store to store! We miss him so much during these times. For Thanksgiving this year we decided to do something a little different. Since we have <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">traditionally</span> ate at Papa and Gigi's every year with Papa putting togetger the BEST turkey and dressing we decided to go out! Change of Pace! We had around 20 family members join together at the Glass which is a beautiful brunch buffet at The Woodlands Resort. Everyone enjoyed themselves with about three hours of <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">wonderful</span> food, fellowship, and <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">laughter</span>. We got through what could have been a <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">miserable</span> day celebrating Papa's memory with stories and got comfort through our little girl's smiles and kisses. The last month and a half have passed by super quick but not without lots of major events including "Ike", trip to the Snyder Tiger football game, first trip on an airplane, picking pumpkins, Halloween as "Miss Turtle", Aggie football game, and an election. Wow, the hurricane put us all about 6 weeks behind and we are just now trying to catch up. We are thankful that during the storm we had Gigi's house to keep us sheltered. We stayed in <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Tomball</span> for about 5 weeks and are finally back in our home after a new roof, fence, kitchen ceiling, living room ceiling, and new carpet have been set in place! Ellie loves her new cushy carpet to crawl on! She is into everything! It seems that all of the sudden we look up and she is doing something new. She loves to play "<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">itsy</span>, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">bitsy</span>, spider", clap (feet and hands), cry when she wants to be picked up, pulls up on lots of things but does not know how to get back down, eats some table food, dances, and gives us smiles that melt our hearts! We were able to take Ellie and enjoy the game very comfortably! She had so much fun watching the crowds, hearing all of the cheers and seeing all of the flashy lights! Even though she got very tired she did not shed any tears and seemed to be content. The Texan cheerleaders came up to visit us and I was able to get some video clips and a friend took a picture with her camera so that pic will be coming soon...
